I composed the soundtrack chapter by chapter, while writing the novel. Not afterwards, as a product to be added. During the writing, as part of the same gesture. Each piece was born from a specific moment in the story — from a scene, from a silence, from a choice Joseph makes and cannot take back.
The music is not illustrative. It does not describe the purgatories or narrate the transformation. It inhabits the same emotional space as the prose — it compresses what the words leave open. Some tracks are very short. Others last as long as the chapter they accompany. All are necessary.
